Betty Ann (Russo) D'Alia, age 82 of Fort Lauderdale, passed away unexpectedly at Broward Health Imperial Point Hospital, on Tuesday, November 29, 2016. At the time of her passing she was in the hearts and minds of those she loved the most.
Born on March 7, 1934, Betty was the daughter of the late Joseph and Catherine (Cusumano) Russo. Raised in Brooklyn, Betty studied at the Fashion Institute of Technology in Manhattan. Betty Ann (Russo) D'Alia, age 82 of Fort Lauderdale, passed away unexpectedly at Broward Health Imperial Point Hospital, on Tuesday, November 29, 2016. At the time of her passing she was in the hearts and minds of those she loved the most.
Born on March 7, 1934, Betty was the daughter of the late Joseph and Catherine (Cusumano) Russo. Raised in Brooklyn, Betty studied at the Fashion Institute of Technology in Manhattan. At one time Betty was married to Peter D'Alia, a union of 46 years. Peter passed away in 2009. Betty was employed as a Payroll Specialist at Tarmac and Alpha Staff. Betty was a devout Catholic.
Betty was a very kind, nurturing and outgoing woman who was loved by all who were fortunate to know her. As the matriarch of her family, she had a strong magnetic presence. She looked forward to cooking and preparing meals for her family, especially her Rice Pudding. Betty's greatest accomplishment was her family. She shared a close bond with her grandchildren whether near or far, offering a listening ear or her gentle guidance.
In her spare time Betty enjoyed tending to her orchids, playing bridge, crocheting and knitting. She traveled the world to many places. Betty found peace and tranquility at the beach.
Betty is survived by her children, Peter D'Alia, Jr. of Coral Springs, William D'Alia of HI, Laura Hewlett and her husband Larry of Coral Springs and Elizabeth Lubitz and her husband Louis of Fort Lauderdale; her cherished grandchildren, Ashley and Andrew Marchese, Kyle D'Alia, Michael Hewlett, Lauren Lubitz, Jenna D'Alia, Katie Lubitz, Olivia Lubitz and Keila D'Alia; her sister and brother-in-law, Vita and Ted Scorcia; her brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Josie Russo; many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Friday, Dec. 2, 2016 from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 at the Kraeer-Fairchild Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 4061 North Federal Highway, Fort Lauderdale.Expressions of sympathy in lieu of floral offerings may be made to the American Heart Association. Betty's funeral service will commence on Saturday morning, Dec. 3, 2016 at 11:30 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 4595 Bayview Drive, Fort Lauderdale, where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. William Bowles.
